SAN ANDREAS HIGHWAY PATROL STANDS STRONG PROTECTING EVERY MILE, EVERY DAY
Media Relations Division | Published: April 12, 2026

Our patrol troopers remain a constant and visible presence across the state's road network. From routine traffic enforcement to high-speed pursuits and emergency response, SAHP units are deployed around the clock to address any and all threats to public highway safety. Speeding violations, reckless driving, DUI enforcement and roadside assistance are all part of a day's work for our dedicated troopers. The highway is our jurisdiction and we take that responsibility seriously.

Behind every one of these units stands a foundation that makes it all possible. None of what you see on the highway happens without what takes place first at the Academy. Every trooper wearing the SAHP badge passed through one of the most demanding law enforcement training programs in the state. Our Academy is built on a foundation of discipline, professionalism and operational excellence. Cadets undergo intensive physical training, tactical firearms training, pursuit driving, legal education and field exercises designed to simulate the full range of challenges they will face on the highway. We do not simply train officers, we build troopers. Those who graduate from the SAHP Academy leave not only with the skills to do the job, but with the mindset and character to do it right, every single time.

The San Andreas Highway Patrol remains fully committed to the safety of the public. Whether you are a regular traveler or a resident living along our highways, know that SAHP is watching, responding and protecting. So that every journey ends safely, we never leave the road.
The highway is in our hands. And we take that seriously.

SAHP commenced May with an extensive multi-environment field training exercise, designed to test officer endurance, survival capability, and teamwork under remote and unpredictable conditions.

Camping Activities Included the following: Enhance officer survival skills outside urban environments, Build inter-unit coordination under physical stress, Improve adaptability in extended deployment scenarios, and Strengthen morale and unit cohesion. The first exercise we did was Wilderness Camping Deployment
Officers were deployed to a controlled remote area for overnight survival training. Teams were required to establish camp, manage resources, and maintain operational readiness throughout the night under simulated field conditions. Next up, we did Open Sea Swimming Endurance Drill Troopers participated in supervised water-based endurance training, focusing on: Stamina under fatigue conditions, Cold-water exposure adaptation, Emergency water recovery response. As a test of endurance we tackled the Mount Chiliad Tactical Hike
A full ascent of Mount Chiliad was conducted as a physical endurance and navigation challenge. Officers were evaluated on Pace discipline, Team coordination, and terrain awareness and safety control. Lastly we conducted a Controlled Wildlife Hunt (Deer Hunt Exercise)
A structured field survival exercise involving controlled hunting procedures was conducted to simulate wilderness sustenance scenarios and firearm discipline in rural environments. The exercise successfully reinforced discipline, physical resilience, and operational teamwork, proving valuable for future off-road and rural deployment situations.
