While my time as a detective taught me invaluable skills in problem-solving and critical thinking, I found that I missed the immediate, proactive nature of uniformed policing. Detective work often means stepping in only after a crime has occurred, spending long hours behind a desk managing heavy, extended caseloads. In contrast, serving as an active police officer allows me to build real trust through direct community engagement, deter crime before it happens, and serve as a crucial first responder who can immediately de-escalate situations and help people when they need it most.
